Environment & Regulatory Services

Supporting Compliance, Environmental Stewardship, and Operational Performance

Strata-G provides environmental and regulatory services that help government and commercial clients maintain compliance, manage environmental risk, and integrate environmental requirements into their operations. Our environmental subject-matter experts (SMEs) develop practical strategies, plans, and programs tailored to each client’s facilities, projects, and regulatory obligations.

Our team supports environmental compliance through audits, permitting, regulatory reporting, environmental planning, and the development of Environmental Management Systems (EMSs). We can establish the foundation for a new environmental program or strengthen and integrate existing policies, procedures, and operational controls.

Strata-G also supports environmental cleanup and facility-development projects by reviewing historical information, identifying potential data gaps, coordinating site investigations, evaluating environmental conditions, and preparing clear, defensible regulatory documents.

Our environmental and regulatory capabilities include:

  • Environmental compliance evaluations and audits
  • Air, water, and waste permitting, including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit support
  • Regulatory reporting and documentation
  • Environmental Management Systems (EMSs) aligned with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001
  • Compliance support under major federal environmental laws, including the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
  • Site investigations, site characterization, and environmental cleanup planning
  • Deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) support
  • Integration of environmental requirements into facility and project operations

Project Highlights

Environmental Screening Investigation at DOE Facilities

Strata-G conducts CERCLA screening investigations at proposed ORNL facility sites to identify and address potential legacy contamination before construction begins. This work begins with a review of historical site data to identify potential information gaps, followed by the development of a sampling plan in coordination with UT-Battelle. Strata-G then oversees the collection of soil samples by subcontracted geotechnical firms, analyzes the results, and prepares a final report documenting site conditions and determining whether legacy contamination is present.

DOE Site Remediation & Decommissioning

Strata-G supported the development of CERCLA remedial investigation/feasibility studies by evaluating site and characterization data and translating findings into clear, defensible remedial alternatives for detailed comparative analysis. We developed and refined alternatives, documented key assumptions and screening criteria, and helped organize information to support risk, feasibility, and cost considerations. Following the Record of Decision (ROD), we also prepared post-ROD documentation to guide the planning, sequencing, and implementation of deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) cleanup decisions, supporting efficient execution and regulatory compliance.
