Strata-G is One of Only 5 Tennessee Organizations to Receive 2017 TNCPE Achievement Award
The Tennessee Center of Performance Excellence recently awarded Strata-G the 2017 Achievement Award. On hand to accept the award were Dan Hurst, Strata-G CEO, and Kate Honebrink, Strata-G Baldrige Coordinator. This Level 3 Award marks the next milestone in the journey Strata-G envisioned several years ago when we aspired to achieve the Malcom Baldrige Quality Award and began the journey to attain it. Using the Baldrige Excellence Framework to improve our processes and results, along with rigorous TNCPE assessments, we have improved our business processes, focusing on achieving excellence through greater efficiency and effectiveness. Governor Haslam congratulated us by saying, “Organizations that pursue a TNCPE award have a special drive. Strata-G’s commitment to improvement will reach deep into our community, making a significant contribution to the state’s economy, and the wellbeing of its citizens.” Thanks to every Strata-G team member for daily commitment to integrity, service, and quality that make the journey successful.
Welcome Joan Cronan to the Strata-G Board of Advisors
Please help us welcome Joan Cronan to Strata-G’s Board of Advisors. Joan is currently the University of Tennessee’s Women’s Athletic Director Emeritus, having served the university for 35 years in a variety of roles focused on strengthening UT and their student athletics through strong athletic programs.
Joan’s depth of leadership experience, her commitment to excellence, her ability to identify and recruit talent, are assets that will help guide Strata-G into an exciting future. Joan has become one of the most recognized people in the Knoxville area through her ability to connect with people and her reputation for trust-based relationships. She has served in leadership roles on Boards of numerous foundations and non-profit organizations, and her development accomplishments are as robust as her reputation for getting things done. Joan takes great pride in leading an academic initiative in UT’s Athletic Department which has resulted in a 98% graduation rate.
Strata-G CEO, Dan Hurst, recently welcomed Joan to her first Board of Advisors meeting by thanking her for her service to the community and now to Strata-G. “Thank you, Joan, for choosing to spend your time, talent and experience with us. We know that we will be blessed by your leadership, and we believe that you will enjoy working with our great team.” Joan Cronan joins Dr. Willis Bixby, Dr. Reinhold Mann, and Mr. John LaBine on Strata-G’s Board of Advisors.
Strata-G’s Outreach Program Impacts People Regionally and Globally
Strata-G’s outreach program impacts people in our backyard and around the world throughout the year. Three projects in which we had the opportunity to serve in 2017 included participating in a Habitat for Humanity home build; providing games to our Community School, Westview Elementary; and providing funds to purchase medicine for a clinic in a remote village in Haiti. Jill Kovalchik, seen here at Westview and with Billy Stair, Haiti project volunteer, is our Outreach Coordinator.
Strata-G Earns 2017 TNCPE Achievement Award
The TN Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) awarded Strata-G the 2017 Achievement Award through its annual Excellence in Tennessee recognition program. TNCPE is Tennessee’s only statewide quality program and is based on the National Malcolm Baldridge Performance Excellence framework. Strata-G’s Quality Manager, Tammy Phillips, CQE, sums up this achievement as a formal declaration of our commitment to improving our business excellence. Winning the Achievement Award is especially gratifying because only 5 organizations in the state were awarded this honor.
The Strata-G team will receive recognition for this achievement at the Excellence in Tennessee Awards Banquet in February 2018. “The commitment of our team to our core values of integrity, service, and quality is the foundation which makes this recognition possible”, said Dan Hurst, President of Strata-G.
Strata-G Helps with tnAchieves
Tammy Phillips knows. So does Bruce Phillips. Janna Nash understands, too, as do other Strata-G tnAchieves mentors. What do they know? “I was that kid,” says Tammy, “who was first in my family to go to college and who did not have a clue about how to get there.” And, that’s what tnAchieves is all about – helping that graduating senior achieve success in navigating from high school to college. Bruce Phillips is volunteering for the 3rd year because of the connection he makes with one or two students. “There’s always that one that I am able to help, that one student who makes it because of tnAchieves and my willingness to volunteer,” he said. The time commitment is not excessive, but the potential to make a difference in a young person’s life is huge. “If you can get them that far,” said Janna, “you’ve accomplished a lot.”
To learn more about tnAchieves or If you are interested in helping out, please visit https://tnachieves.org/ . In anticipation of 60,000 student applications from the 2018 Class, tnAchieves needs to recruit 9,000 volunteers. This significant milestone demonstrates our employees’ commitment to safe work. This dedication to safety means that our employees go home at the end of each day, safe and sound, where they continue to practice safety on home and community projects. We are grateful for our employees’ commitment, and for our company’s ES&H leadership team comprised of Susan Blackburn, Jeanette Widman, and Dirk Van Hoesen, all of whom set an example and lead with vigilance.
