Strata-G was well-represented at the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K & Relay. Our team, flashy in our new wellness shirts, participated in several of the races to promote good health and wellness. This race is one of many wellness activities that our employees can participate in throughout the year. Kate Honebrink manages our program that includes a variety of challenges such as hydration, healthy weight, eating more fruits and vegetables, and walking. Employees have the chance to win wellness prizes during each challenge. The Strata-G Wellness Program makes getting and staying healthy fun.
Our Quality Assurance (QA) services continue to grow as evidenced by new and expanded opportunities at several project sites. Michael Russell, Strata-G’s QA Manager, is key to this growth and leads our efforts to continue to develop our corporate QA Plan, cultivate awareness of the importance of QA among our employees, and develop QA as a business line.
Members of the Strata-G team congratulate President and CEO, Dan Hurst, for winning the Tennessee Valley Business Association’s Veteran Entrepreneur of the Year award. They want everyone to know that Dan has added something special to his business model, creating a small business based on a simple principle – treat others the way you wish to be treated. It’s a business principle that works, as evidenced by Strata-G’s successful relationships with our customers, teaming partners, and the community.
TN officials have approved the demolition of two large buildings at the Biology Complex at Y-12. The Biology Complex once housed more people with doctorates than anywhere in the world, according to DOE. The men and women who worked there radically enhanced the world’s knowledge of biology through their research on the genetic effects of radiation. For example, scientists there discovered that in mammals, unlike in other organisms that had been the subject of extensive genetic studies, the Y chromosome was the determiner of male sex.
2018 – A Rewarding Year
Strata-G was recognized in 2018 with 2 prestigious awards: the Pinnacle Award for Community Impact given by the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and the Dream Big Award for a Veteran-Owned Business, a U.S. Chamber of Commerce award. Dan gratefully and graciously accepted both awards on behalf of Strata-G employees. Congratulations to all!
