Michael Russell

Vice President, Nuclear & Quality Services

Michael Russell serves as Strata-G’s Vice President of Nuclear and Quality Services, Corporate Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, and Subcontract Project Manager for multiple projects and personnel. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

A mechanical engineer with more than 30 years of technical project management experience, Michael’s background includes nuclear operations, engineering, QA and compliance, regulatory and licensing support, performance improvement, construction, information technology, and software and hardware development. He has supported the nuclear power, utility, energy, waste, construction, and security industries for more than 22 years.

Michael currently applies his extensive program and procedure development experience in support of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) facilities, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), and the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA’s) Y-12 and Pantex Security Complex.

At ORNL, Michael serves as the lead QA representative for the Transformational Challenge Reactor (TCR) program. The program integrates multiple directorates and disciplines across the DOE laboratory complex, including regulatory support, additive manufacturing, TRISO fuel and yttrium hydride moderator development, and novel reactor core design. His work has included developing more than 40 plans and procedures addressing QA programs, design control, procurement, and software QA.

Michael’s professional experience is matched by his dedication to the Oak Ridge and East Tennessee communities. He has volunteered with and served in more than 15 outreach organizations.
