| PROJECT HISTORIES Nuclear Operations Services to the Y-12 National Security
Complex
Strata-G is currently providing nuclear operations technical
services to the Department of Energy managing contractor of the Y-12 National Security
Complex. Strata-G is tasked with staffing key management and advisory positions within the
manufacturing organization. Strata-G is actively involved in the startup of a new chemical
facility, operation of an active production facility, and deactivation and demolition of
an operating facility. Responsibilities include: managing operations of a Category II
nuclear facility; shift management; shift advisor; facility safety basis implementation
and compliance; regulatory compliance; nuclear criticality safety; hazard reduction;
deactivation activities; and work start authority. Strata-G provides significant expertise
in Conduct of Operations (CONOPS) to ensure only safe, proper, and efficient operations
are performed.
Quality Assurance Support for Liquid
Gaseous Waste Operations and Surveillance and Maintenance Project at Oak Ridge National
Laboratory
Strata-G is currently providing quality assurance services
in the operations and maintenance of various nuclear and non-nuclear facilities at the Oak
Ridge National Lab. Strata-G is tasked with the preparation and maintenance of the overall
quality assurance program. The task includes the performance of monthly quality assurance
assessments and status reporting on conditions adverse to quality. Strata-G also prepares
and issues annual quality assurance reports on project activities. Oversight is performed
on critical areas of the project and direct interface is required with both Department of
Energy and prime contractor personnel on any quality issues pertaining to the Project.
Quality Assurance Support to Oak Ridge
Reservation Landfill Operations
Strata-G is serving as the Quality Assurance Manager for the
Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR) Landfill. Services include preparation, review and approval of
the ORR Landfill Quality Assurance Program Plan and quality assurance procedures. The task
includes the performance of quality assurance assessments and status reporting on
conditions adverse to quality. Strata-G prepares and issues annual quality assurance
reports on project activities.
Technical Support for U233 Processing
Project at Oak Ridge National Lab
Strata-G provides key added support staff to a project to
disposition more than 1.5 tons of total uranium, including 450 kg of highly enriched 233U,
which is a special nuclear material contained in more than 1,200 canisters stored in a
Manhattan Project vintage facility. The purpose of the project is to process and package
the 233U inventory in Building 3019A in order to eliminate the need for
safeguards, security, and nuclear criticality controls and to render the material suitable
for safe, long-term, economical storage; extract 239Th during 233U
processing to increase its availability for medical research and treatment; operate the
Building 3019 Complex during the 233U processing and medical isotope
production; and place the Building 3019 complex in safe and stable shutdown status
awaiting decontamination and decommissioning. The first phase of the project consists of
equipment design and facility modifications. The second phase is to operate the facility,
which includes the construction, installation and operation of processing equipment and
conduct of the processing campaign. Strata-G provides operations, environmental health and
safety, quality assurance, records management, and training support to the Department of
Energy prime contractor. |
