Innovation Valley Technology Council's Third Annual Navigator Awards
Strata-G, LLC was given the Community Service Award for Small Business at the Innovation Valley Technology Council's Third Annual Navigator Awards.
"We share the results of our success with the community." This is the guiding principle behind the community outreach program of Strata-G.
Strata-G's community outreach program provides recurring opportunities throughout the year for its employees to build homes for the homeless, feed the hungry, support veterans and active military, and participate in environmental conservation projects.
Employees regularly serve lunches at the Knox Area Rescue Ministry. They make a special point of being at KARM on Veteran's Day to honor and provide a meal for Knoxville's homeless veterans who represent nearly 25 percent of the city's homeless population. Strata-G also supports current service members by regularly sending care packages to members of the Army's 82nd Airborne serving in Iraq.
Each April, Strata-G supports the Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair by funding student scholarships and providing employee volunteers to serve as judges.
Each summer, Strata-G and its employees help build a home for an Anderson County family through Habitat for Humanity. We also walked all night for the American Cancer Society raising nearly $7,000.
Each fall, employees participate in an environmental stewardship project. In the past, these efforts have focused on building a section of the Cumberland Trail and spraying hemlocks for adelgids, planning native grasses, collecting native grass seeds, tagging Monarch butterflies, and working at Tremont in the Smokies. The company has also cleans Bethel Valley Road in Oak Ridge on a quarterly basis through the Adopted-a-Highway program.
Strata-G has received an "Above & Beyond" award for extraordinary support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. It was also named one fo the Top Ten Small Employers in the "Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace List" for 2007. Additionally, Strata-G received awards from UT-Battelle and Bechtel Jacobs as Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year and an Administrator's Award of Excellence from the Small Business Administration.
