Strata-G Earns 2017 TNCPE Achievement Award

The TN Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE) awarded Strata-G the 2017 Achievement Award through its annual Excellence in Tennessee recognition program. TNCPE is Tennessee’s only statewide quality program and is based on the National Malcolm Baldridge Performance Excellence framework. Strata-G’s Quality Manager, Tammy Phillips, CQE, sums up this achievement as a formal declaration of our commitment to improving our business excellence. Winning the Achievement Award is especially gratifying because only 5 organizations in the state were awarded this honor.

The Strata-G team will receive recognition for this achievement at the Excellence in Tennessee Awards Banquet in February 2018. “The commitment of our team to our core values of integrity, service, and quality is the foundation which makes this recognition possible”, said Dan Hurst, President of Strata-G.

Strata-G Helps with tnAchieves

Tammy Phillips knows. So does Bruce Phillips. Janna Nash understands, too, as do other Strata-G tnAchieves mentors. What do they know? “I was that kid,” says Tammy, “who was first in my family to go to college and who did not have a clue about how to get there.” And, that’s what tnAchieves is all about – helping that graduating senior achieve success in navigating from high school to college. Bruce Phillips is volunteering for the 3rd year because of the connection he makes with one or two students. “There’s always that one that I am able to help, that one student who makes it because of tnAchieves and my willingness to volunteer,” he said. The time commitment is not excessive, but the potential to make a difference in a young person’s life is huge. “If you can get them that far,” said Janna, “you’ve accomplished a lot.”

To learn more about tnAchieves or If you are interested in helping out, please visit https://tnachieves.org/ . In anticipation of 60,000 student applications from the 2018 Class, tnAchieves needs to recruit 9,000 volunteers. Over 2 Million Safe Hours Worked

No company in our industry can succeed without an exceptional safety record, so we were extremely thankful to recently celebrate 2 million hours worked without a total recordable or lost time incident! This significant milestone demonstrates our employees’ commitment to safe work. This dedication to safety means that our employees go home at the end of each day, safe and sound, where they continue to practice safety on home and community projects. We are grateful for our employees’ commitment, and for our company’s ES&H leadership team comprised of Susan Blackburn, Jeanette Widman, and Dirk Van Hoesen, all of whom set an example and lead with vigilance.

Strata-G’s 15th Anniversary

Strata-G celebrated our 15 year anniversary in a festive way with the home office packed to overflowing with nearly 200 well-wishers, Bruster’s Ice Cream truck parked outside, and Dan’s recap of our journey thus far that has been propelled by great customers and non-negotiable core values.

Our office staff will have to go a long way to top this one. What will they do when we celebrate our 20th?

Thanks, team.

Monarch Waystation 17288

Strata-G is now a certified Monarch Waystation! This means we are providing migrating monarch butterflies with milkweeds, nectar plants, and shelter; and are thereby contributing to monarch conservation and to the continuation of monarch migration in North America. Thanks to Kate Honebrink for designing and planting the monarch garden. Stop by in September when, hopefully, dozens of miraculous monarchs will be flitting around our garden, storing up energy before migrating to their northern Mexican wintering forest habitat.

In July, the Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness announced that Strata-G was named, for the 3rd year in a row, a 2017 Healthier Tennessee Workplace. We won the award for our commitment to encouraging and enabling employees to live a healthy lifestyle both at work and at home. Here’s how we’re doing that:

• Encouraging and enabling physical activity in the workplace
• Offering healthy eating options at work
• Providing a tobacco-free environment and helping with tobacco cessation
• Encouraging and enabling employees to monitor our own health through regular health risk assessments, screenings or check-ups

Kate Honebrink, our Wellness Coordinator, has a goal to increase the overall health and wellness of our employees each year. The Healthier Tennessee Workplace program provides sound guidance in achieving that goal.
