Jack H. Britt, Ph.D.
Jack H. Britt served as Executive Vice President (2004-2007) and Vice President for Agriculture (1998-2004) for The University of Tennessee System before retiring. He currently works part-time as a Senior Consultant for Strata-G LLC, as a representative in North Carolina for the Partnerships Directorate of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and as an international consultant in agricultural systems.
Britt serves on the StrataG LLC Board of Advisors and on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Corridor, where he represents Western North Carolina. He has also served on the Board of Governors of UT-Battelle, the Board of Directors of the UT-Battelle Development Corporation, the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Farm Bureau, the Board of Directors of the American Society of Animal Science and boards of several other organizations and agencies. He has been a consultant for 23 US and international corporations.
Britt served in tenured faculty positions at Michigan State University, North Carolina State University and The University of Tennessee and taught and conducted research for more than 40 years. He has published over 600 scientific and technical articles, given invited seminars in 21 countries and advised 30 M.S. and Ph.D. degree students. He was elected to the Academy of Outstanding Teachers at North Carolina State University and has received awards for his research from three international scientific societies.
Britt was reared on a dairy farm in Kentucky and received a BS degree in Agriculture and Biology (double major) from Western Kentucky University and M.S. (Animal Science) and Ph.D. (Physiology and Biochemistry) degrees from North Carolina State University. He and his wife Frances live in Etowah, NC and are parents of Heather and Stephanie and grandparents of Maddy, Britt and Henry.
